Week 9's activities

I was selected to become a leader for this week’s activity. All leaders and sweepers were asked to know the pathway before leading the group on the 5th October 2009 (Monday). We made a path by cutting the grass and we put marks along our way by tying a white string to the tree’s branches and make 3 lines scars on the tree’s trunks.

On that day, I felt uncomfortable because of the muddy and wet land. The grass was at my height before we enter into the forest. Fortunately, the weather was just fine. We were told by Dr Irene that there are wild boars.

9th October 2009 (Friday) - I began my 2nd position in BEAPCA as a leader. The BEAPCA’s students were divided into 3 groups. I lead 4 people including a sweeper. The weather was hot and sunny. We did some community work just like last week’s activity.

It was out of my expectations. I thought being a leader to a small group was easy. I was hungry and lost before I managed to escort my group out of the jungle.

Lucky that my group has a good sense of direction. They help me to find the way out by following the transect lines and foot steeps of the other members. Mizah also treat me some chocolate. They also showed me forest orchid plants, igneous rocks, wild boar’s foot print and etc.

After we came out from the forest, we were asked to choose to use the same way or the new way to go back to the car park. Most of us vote for the new way perhaps they thought it would be much easier than the old way.

Unfortunately, the distance was much further than the previous ones. Along the track were mostly covered with ferns. Surprisingly, we passed through a few abandoned houses where it used to be a place for JIS’s teachers, stewardess and etc live.

Although few of the members did not come out of the forest on time and were late for the trip but yet i think that this activity was quite successful.
