Lucky Garden

On the 4th October 2009 (sunday), we went to Lucky Garden at Sungai Tilong around 6:00 am. We went by bus organized by Siti Nazihah Binti Nooradin. Nina Nadiyah Binti Saidi and I were selected to be the organizers for the trip. I divided the students into three groups; each group has five people.

My group was lead by Dk Nurdiyana Pg Baharuddin and the sweeper was Dr Irene. The soil was wet and muddy causing some people loses their balance and fell over. Despite that, I enjoy the hiking activity and the view from the hill.

From this hiking activity, I learned few names of the plants such as Kuduk-kuduk, Paku Ular and Umbrella Palm. I also got a chance to see mashrooms, Tongkat Ali and Ginger Plants. Apart from that, I saw Monkeys, a green dragonfly, a yellow butterfly and more. I learned the term 'slash and burn' is the process of farmers who move from one area to another for fertile soil.

I was scared by the scarecrow when we passed through a farm. Dr Irene told us that some part of the forest was maintained by the Gurka's.

We did some community actions such as cleaning up litters; separating recyclables ones and etc. I think that the first aids should join the last group so that it would be easier if he/she was needed. The bin manager should bring extra plastic bags; at least one bag for each group.

For any upcoming trip, I would like to suggest that all leaders are to remind the group that they should not talk very loudly, littering and etc. All members should meet up early before the departing time and leaders must make sure that no one gets lost. All members also should be puntual so that the other members do not have to wait for them.
